External hard drives are definitely getting cheaper as technology progresses to solid state disks at much higher costs. The advantage? You get 2TB of storage space for a lot less now compared to yesteryear. Lacie hard drives are usually quite a popular choice and design is probably one of the main reasons why. How does this rather simple but aesthetically pleasing hard drive perform? Check out the review. tech-lobby.com

Accredited online colleges continue to increase in popularity as an alternative to campus-based education. We evaluated distance learning trends and built a list of technological necessities for online students.
1. mLearning Devices
mLearning is the ability to connect and learn through the use of mobile devices and is often associated with distance learning because of their portability and convenience. mLearning is a fast-growing trend that creates a personalized learning experience with instant connectivity.
BlackBoard has responded to this trend with the launch of its Mobile Central series of applications. Learning institutions can customize the mobile content to offer their students on-the-go education. Applications include: course catalogs, online library book catalog, university maps and school directories. Mobile Central only runs on Blackberry, iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
2. External Hard Drives
Since online courses heavily utilize videoconferencing and computer-based teaching applications, students earning online degrees must be prepared to responsibly manage their computer's storage space.
The storage of class notes, assignments and presentations will eventually eat away at your computer's capacity. Investing in an external hard drive allows you to securely back up important files onto a separate drive that can disconnect from your computer. For most external hard drives it's as simple as plugging in a USB cord. If you need to work on another computer you simply hook up your hard drive and access the saved documents. Also, if you share a computer with family or roommates, this allows you to keep important information safe with limited access.
3. Office Chair
A typical full-time, on campus student attends 12 to 18 hours of lectures per week. This number is similar for online students, but in a virtual environment instead of a classroom. When you add up the time spent on assignments, a significant portion of your day is spent on your computer and at your desk.
Invest in an office chair that focuses on ergonomics. The Eurotech 24/7 was designed for hours of daily use. Some of its student-friendly features include: built-in lumbar support, tilt tension control and a waterfall seat for comfort. Just don't get too comfortable; your academic concentration should be top priority over afternoon naps.
4. Headphones
As we've pointed out, online schools require a significant amount of hours per week in front of the computer. While speakers are an option, there are often moments when headphones are your best bet (late at night when others are sleeping, traveling, etc.). Our advice? Go with the Bose In-Ear Headphones. These earpieces feature ultra-comfortable tips that rest in the bowls of the ear (instead of the canal) and are ideal for extended use during online lectures, project discussions, etc.
5. Memory and Retention Games
Memory and retention rates of students enrolled in accredited online courses compared to campus-based students continue to be a heavily debated topic. While some institutions argue that there are no quantitative methods that produce valuable analysis results, others have conducted studies with, what they consider to be, valid findings. In their 2009 winter issue, the OJDLA found distance learners to have a 20% lower retention rate than their traditional counterparts.
What better way to build your retention rate than through an exciting game format? The Simon Trickster Handheld Edition is the perfect solution. Simon has four colors that light up in a sequence with a different tone assigned to each color. After Simon chooses a color sequence, the user is required to repeat the sequence by pressing the appropriate color. This version is also portable and allows you to take advantage of down time or when you are traveling.

The HP Pocket Media drive has met my expectations. Basically, I wanted a device to back up my photos, Word documents and music files. I wanted it to be quick and easy.
I was a little disappointed, though, with the backup software that came with the drive. It doesn't allow you to automatically back up files to the Pocke Media Drive. The only options for backup devices were the CD drive or the hard drive. I guess they want to to upgrade this software, but I refused to fall for this trick.
I was especially pleased when my kids got me a HP MediaSmart Connect device for Christmas. With this device I can view video, music and photo files that are on my PC on my HDTV. THe HP Pocket Media drive plugs into the HP MediaSmart Connect device making the entire set-up very comparable to Apple TV.
Anyway, the device meets my expectations and the price is reasonable. I'm not saying there aren't other products out there that are just as good, just that you won't go too wrong getting this device - especially if you want to get the MediaSmart Connect too.

What happens to your business if your hard drive fails? What happens if a computer virus eats through your operating system? What happens when you try to retrieve information from a storage cd only to discover it does not work?
If you run an internet business, chances are you are working from your home computer.
Robert Earl Gambrel, a veteran computer technician who services computers in homes and businesses in the Tampa Bay area, offers this advice.
"Important files and documents can be stored on a second hard drive, an external hard drive, or flash drives.
"Making back-up discs or cds is time-consuming, a waste of space, and in most cases won't hold all the information you need to store," he told me.
Instead, Gambrel uses 8-gig plug-in flash drives for much of his own business. He has them named for the day of the week to store information he does not need to keep indefinitely. "These devices are reliable," he said. He's been using his for about seven years.
"Backing up information to an external drive is easy," Gambrel said. He advises using the briefcase utility that is available in your operating system.
To create a briefcase using Windows, click Start then click My Computer. Click the folder you want to use for your briefcase. Select the device where you will create your brief case. On the File menu, select New, and then click Briefcase.
The value in choosing Briefcase to back-up files is that you can synchronize your files. That means when you run your back-up using Briefcase, you are only copying the new files or documents from your business folder.
When setting up my Briefcases, I used the click-and-drag feature in Windows Explorer. That way I could see that the transfer of correspondence, training materials and so forth were being copied to the correct destination. Keep in mind, if you have all your current business files scattered throughout My Documents, you need to organize them into specific files first. Otherwise, all those files. Both business-related and personal, will wind up in a single briefcase.
I asked Gambrel if his customers were still having problems with viruses. He assured me viruses continue to thrive on the internet.
For his own computer, Gambrel's chooses not to use the big subscription programs. He recommends using free software to protect your computer, instead. He personally uses the free versions of AVG, AdAware and Spybot 1.52. "Those programs and the built-in firewall within your operating system is generally enough protection," he told me. "The problem with those big programs is that they slow down your computer." Eventually, their problems and idiosyncrasies escalate to the point of needing a technical expert like Gambrel or making you believe you need a new computer.
If you do wind up with crashes and slow boots, unless you are a computer expert don't try to fix it yourself, Gambrel warned. These could indicate that your operating system has been attacked by a virus. "Turn it off immediately and take it to a technician," he said.
"If the virus has just started, chances are your technician will be able to retrieve most or all of your files." The problem with document retrieval is that computer owners try to track down the problem themselves, often creating pathways for the virus to travel, and enabling it to destroy an increasing number of files.
If you have had a virus identified on your computer, chances are it might have spread to your external drive or flash drives. "Always run a virus scan on those devices before reconnecting them to your computer," Gambrel advised.

What to backup, and what to lose
The oldest "computer expression" is that there are two kinds of computer users, those that backup their data and those that will. Often, it takes a "data disaster" to compel otherwise responsible people to make a regular habit of backing up their data. Still, the majority of computer users do not back up their data.
According to Computer World, the annual cost to recover lost data per laptop is over $800.00 per year. This amounts to billions of dollars per year spent nationally to recover (or not recover) data that has been lost due to users not backing up their data. Critical data files are often stored on personal computers and laptops and often not subject to regular backup.
If backup is so important, then why don't most people do it?
The truth is, backing up data from your computer to CDs, memory sticks, other computers, and network hard drives is inconvenient. It takes time out of a busy day. Most backup utilities require the users attention to start, monitor, and close the process. Backup takes time from the user that can be better spent doing something else. Backup is boring, since it may disable or tie up your computer while the backup is taking place.
So what data should I back up?
The simple answer is any file that you would miss if you did not have it. This includes documents, presentations, spreadsheets, accounting data, and other data files. Also include your Favorites folder, telephone directory, appointment calendar, and tasks. It may also include pictures, music, family video, and any other data that is significant, especially if lost.
Look at all of the programs that you use regularly. Find the data files that these programs and mark these for regular backup. Often these files are not behind your MY Documents folder.
For example, if you use Quicken or QuickBooks, the important data files are saved in a folder behind the Quicken or QuickBooks program. In Microsoft Windows XP, these files could be under Documents and Settings/user/Application Data. In addition, the Application Data file may also contain important information that aids in your ability to use many of your favorite programs. If you do not know how to get to these files, consult an expert to help you determine what files to choose for regular backup.
How often should I back up?
Think of this question another way - if my hard disk crashed, or I dropped my laptop, or it got stolen at the airport, how much time will it take me to re-create the active data that I just lost? What would it cost you to lose a day's worth of data and to recreate it? How much time would it take to reconfigure your computer with the tools, configurations, short cuts, and links that you have spent years accumulating? Remember the Computer World data, the average cost per laptop for lost data is $800.00 per year. What is your billing rate? How much will it cost you to start over?
Some of us use our computers the entire day. That means that if we back up daily, then the most time that we would spend redoing the work would be less than a day's worth of time. If you are an occasional user, then you may need to backup less frequently.
Once you have made your list, then you are ready to back up. Here is my partial list of backup files that would cause me great pain if they were not backed up:What's the Solution?
The solution is to find a backup solution that is invisible to the user and does not create a "backup event" that must be scheduled from a person's busy day. So hold this thought for the moment.
Once you have determined which files to back up regularly, you must decide where to store this data. In the early days of computing, we used to back up to floppy disks. Now, our files are huge and often too large for floppy disks. CD ROMs are popular for backup and will now hold over 750 MB of data. DVDs can also be used for backup and how many times more data than CD ROMS.
At the beginning of this article, I said that backup is inconvenient and that is why most people don't do it. Therefore lets find solutions that are convenient. Not just convenient, but invisible like an insurance policy that just works.
If you are a lone computer user and are not on a network, the best solution is to get an external hard drive that plugs into your USB port. These data storage devices are relatively cheap for the benefit that they provide. Follow this link for examples of these products: http://www.google.com/froogle?q=USB+Hard+drive. If you are using Windows XP, then you can use the Windows Synchronize utility found in XP. To use, copy all of your data to the external drive. Then install the Windows Synchronize utility to automatically keep your files up to date when you plug the external drive into your computer. When you travel with your laptop computer, leave the USB hard drive at home. Never carry it in your computer bag. If you are backing up your desktop, take the USB hard drive with you - or at least store it at a location separate from your desktop in case of fire or other disaster.
If you are on a network, such as a home or business network, set aside some backup space on a hard drive on the network or on another computer. Hard drives are cheap. If you need more space than is available, buy another hard drive and install it on another computer. Use Windows Synchronize utility to keep the data synced.
If you use a laptop or work in different locations, a new product called BeInSync automatically makes the connection over the Internet between your laptop and a designated target computer for syncing files. BeInSync updates, automatically and invisibly any and all files designated for syncing. It even allows you to sync files with friends and business associates. Since it works in the background, it does not require a backup event and impose itself on the user's busy day.
Follow this link to get more information on BeInSync: http://www.beinsync.com/?rfrid=BIS-P-1038. One important note about BeInSync is that it will sync everything in the My Document folder. Move My Music, My Videos, and other large folders out of the My Documents before enabling BeInSync.
What's the bottom line on backup?
The bottom line on backup is that it is absolutely necessary for everyone that has something to lose if his or her computer was lost, stolen, or simply failed from regular use. There is a wide variety of solutions in the marketplace to keep your data backed up. Spend the time to explore and implement your back up solution. If you are not technical, hire an expert to create a solution that works for you. It will be some of the best money that you will spend.

RAID 0 is very popular RAID levels, which not only used in servers, but also in external storage devices such as external hard drives and NAS units found (NAS). The manufacturers of external hard drives with RAID 0 to increase the capacity of its shares to the consumer. An example is the manufacturer of the LaCie external hard drive. LaCie is a RAID 0 in many of its products, including LaCie BigDisk Extreme LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme.
While benefits RAID 0 is not fault tolerant. Failure of a disk array can cause the complete loss of data. This is due to the fact that the RAID 0 uses a method called striping. Striping writes data in blocks of the same size in each partition of the matrix. All drives in the array must operate in order to read the data. Most server administrators to recognize the risks of RAID 0 and frequent backups of their behaviorData on the number of users of high-capacity hard drive (like those mentioned above) do not know how to use RAID-0-units. These users are surprised to learn that can be a failure of a single disk can make their data can be restored.
When a RAID 0 hard drive fails, it is important that the power of servers and storage unit and contact a data recovery company. The disk must not be repaired to its original state, to recover data from RAID 0 array. If morea disk fails, data recovery is possible, but the chances of a recovery back. To prevent data loss while RAID-0 devices or servers with RAID 0, it is important to perform regular backups of data.

If you experience a hard drive crash, does not mean much to worsen the situation. In the case of a hard drive crash, in most cases, the data is completely recoverable at first. However, as part of human nature that often try to avoid the high costs associated with Hard Drive Data Recovery related expenditure, in order to find a solution "quickly" to a very serious problem. In this report we will go over some of the symptoms of> Hard drive crashes and you try things in case of a suspected hard drive crash, along with the things that you should avoid.
What is the sound of The Drive?
The first thing to consider if the hard disk makes strange noises. Often, when there is a problem with the read / write head in the drive or a problem in the firmware of the motherboard of a "click" sound to be heard. Ifthis is the case, then you should immediately turn off the system and refrain from reapplying power. The same goes for any unusual sound, if the grinding, squealing, sounds like a "laser gun". If you experience any of these cases, you must immediately turn off the system, then unplug it from the wall.
Unfortunately, in the above situations, there is little to do, that you can restore the data. In fact, unless you have a clean room, fully equipped with theproper tools and a qualified technician there is nothing you can do. Even hard drive manufacturers to avoid this work, and many that offer data recovery services for contractors only work for an established firm data recovery.
Never Ever Open Your Hard Drive
If the data are on a hard drive, even the smallest value for you, then it is essential that you open the disc. We are often askedor e-mail from people who believe that the right equipment and know-how, to something as serious as a deputy head. Once you have the hard drive cover, often asking them not to send the drive, because in most cases, the damage is irreparable.
Working with the internal components of a hard disk requires at least one class-100 clean room. A clean room, a room that does not mean you just extracted anddusted (believe it or not people say that to us) all the time. A clean room is a special plant, where air quality is heavily controlled and it is important for the discs during manufacture or assembly. The air in the room is the period of the particles of air, temperature and humidity controlled. Class-100 clean room means there is more than 100 particles larger than 0.5 micrometers are in a cubic foot of air.
Opening a hard drive sitting in the airslightly lower than the above standard means certain death for your hard drive and all the data it contains.
Freezer Method
It has a long history of implementation wive runs over the hard drive has been in the freezer when it crashes in order to revive them just enough to pull your data off of it. We have this test for fun on many occasions in different scenarios with junk test drives that we have done in our laboratory. So far, we haveto see that actually produce any positive result. In fact, in one case we actually started the formation of microscopic ice crystals on the plate itself, a certain inevitable crash, you can see.
You see the problem with this theory, the units are not completely sealed. Regardless of what you have heard or read, all hard drives have a small vent hole marked (usually with a label that says DO NOT COVER). This hole not only for cooling, but also helpscompensate for the air pressure in the drive when the disks are rotating. On the other side of this hole, a filter, dirt and dust from the inside is always unity. However, this filter is not difficult to stop a lot of moisture (especially in situations where high water) or permeability to water vapor found (as in a freezer). The permeability to water vapor is known to settle on the plates, and when a system is powered on, the read / write head would be a plane in such aBerg.
Finally, if you had a hard drive crash, it is imperative that you check the data value before the money saved to control yourself. Data Recovery is a specialty, and requires a number of specialized tools, skills and software are successfully completed. Many times we run the risk of having data that would be perfect, and destroy them permanently. If you have questions, you should consultwith a collection company before. More reliable data recovery company to perform a diagnosis and a free assessment on most standard IDE hard drives. Many also include a list of recoverable files before proceeding with this assessment. In some cases we also work with our customers on a payment plan to ease the burden of the costs of rescue. Of course, the best way to avoid all this, everything and all the backup value.

Here's the situation. A laptop computer comes to us with a hard disk died. Unfortunately, you need a few files from the disk died. He decided, after some Internet research and a couple of data recovery quotes we have to try to retrieve information itself.
Fortunately for us, the unit will not start 'to turn all. I say fortunately, because the usual problem that the board of evil in the bottom of the disk is gone. This does not mean that something differentis not the problem, but replacing the motherboard, the easiest thing is to try.
The first of what is required, another hard drive. That may sound easy, but it is not. You need a blank disc, I would say the same thing with the same model, part number, firmware, everything. In our case, we had a Hitachi Travelstar hard drive, which was equal to three digits. The key figures are the model number, part number, and the number of MLC. I thinkNumber of MLC has something with the firmware version, but do not quote me on it. After speaking with Hitachi, I was called a "society" CUETEC. They specialize in research to find "difficult" or parts of obsolete computers. That was between $ 200 and $ 400 for the unit, which I thought prosecution was required to work to find the rational. Instead of using them, I decided to watch at your own pace, and after two days has not yet found another disc for sale satisfied my needs. Then searched the house for laptops and found that he had such a blank disc. Now we have been in the business world.
Now that we've had our tour, we had to protect ourselves, because the user wanted the machine back in order. So before you start any kind of operation we have a ghost image of the hard drive. After a wait of 20 minutes or so to complete the backup we started the operation. First, we removed the hard> Drive system to work and put them on a block with static circuit. We will then fix a T-5 Torx screws on the PCB on the hard drive removed. The unit may need a different size or style of screwdriver. We then repeated the process on the disk ugly. We have the printed circuit board from the hard disk drive good people and put them back in the laptop. It 'started! Once we have new IT --We then worked on the system configuration to create an image Quick Drive. After waiting for another 20 minutes we had a disk image of your hard disk bad, and our data have been restored.
To complete the process that we had on board back to the original hard disk and share good and make sure it works properly. Once this was completed, and the handset back to the owners, who installed a new hard drive in the system, original problem. The last step was to restore the drive with the new hard drive, make sure it worked, and give the laptop back to the owner.

Backup, backup, backup! Do not just read these words, they live by those words. Doing it before it's too late. The backup is the only thing we should do everything, but many people do not. We hope that these wonderful machines (computers) that is used these days and days with all our data and images, and most of that is trust blind trust. Just because everything is working well with the world and our computer, as can be assumed, does not mean it forever.
All you need is forHard to get the block and everything is gone! No picture, no data more. The problem is not the opposite. It seems that in times in which we live our lives more and more on our computers and cause them to crash. A hard disk failure can mean losing everything now in a fire or flood, for all the valuable information that we keep on our computers.
How do you avoid that?
Well, the sad thing is that it is possible, but what you can do is make a backup copyInformation you have on your computer in case something happens. Most people are not saved, at least not until they lose everything. Consider just a new baby. You just take a nice, new digital camera with a ton of baby photos, documenting every day of their lives. After 1 year the hard drive crash, and on this drive every single picture you took the child has been ... gone.
A whole year of memories are gone. If mediayour OK. If you do not then you probably are gone forever. If the idea goes back up to you then you can scare us into creating receive a backup copy.
The first thing I do when I uploaded the photos from the camera to my computer from a backup copy first. (note the technique will be slightly different, depending on how you) their images on your computer and operating system. I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to upload and edit my photos.Lightroom gives you the possibility of a backup on your images when you upload them. I have an external hard drive that I connect to my computer via the USB port and I chose Lightroom then does the rest. Insert a copy on my computer and my external hard drive.
If you do not change with Lightroom to upload your images, or you can even with the external hard drive. All you have to do is afterupload images to your computer, connect the external drive and copy the images on your hard drive or burn them to CD or DVD. Now the pictures are pretty sure is because you have 2 copies of every individual a right? Wrong! In theory, the images are safe and protected, if the disk fails, but now I'm sitting on a CD or DVD or another hard drive.
All of these media is still relatively new and we begin to learnthe boundaries of these media. as CD or DVD is not forever. There are limits to the duration of life. These limits are the quality of the dye that is used on the hard drive based. They must be stored in a cool, dry conditions in a protective case.
You should probably save this disk or external hard drive somewhere off-site in case something happens (and I never I hope) to your home. If the disk or disks in yourHome and keep your computer and is an accident, fire or anything else then both copies are gone.
Of course, you can set the floppy or hard disk in a fire / waterproof safe, protect them, if you're not on the spot and save it.
Am I paranoid? Maybe, but you have to be. If you have lost your photos, you can too. There are many ways to protect data in a computer. The problem is, if not used then will not do you any good.Do not wait until it's too late and you lost all the pictures of last year ....

Hard drive - can drive with high capacity and fast, but do not forget that there are also delicate and fragile and can become a victim of an accident for a number of reasons. Excessive heat, head-stick reader, general division of the internal components, data corruption, power surges, the external magnetic and viruses, to name a few. How can I prevent the hard disk - drive crash? They can and when it happens, there is little hope to get back in operation; bwahahaha!
GoodNews is that the hard disk - disk should be your main concern, are the data on it. The data are just as vulnerable as a storage medium, so that would obviously not have the backup of the hard disk - the disk. You back up the hard disk - hard is not it?
If you are not backing up data, now is the time! If you can do the backup, and you are not an offsite backup service, I would strongly encourage you to think about it. In today's market for off-site --Backup services will be easy to get a client for download, enter your destination, and place it on an automated program, and BOOM! Forget your loss of data through a disk failure - unit concerns frequently.
Sounds good, right, I'm not doing well. Take a look around the web, off-site backup services are based on the Internet, and your data with high-grade encryption technology to protect from any safe, open the service provider is not capable of data stored. The interiorsimple, and you can complete the installation in less than an hour.
The alternative would be equivalent to a backup data to DVD or external hard drive - drive and bring them into the house of Nabors', every day! Or you can use an FTP client and write the shell script to make a full backup of data is not every day that it would be a bit 'bulky ... I have already said that most of the offsite backup services now back to just the "delta", after the first backup? That is, only datahave changed since the last backup session (first and encrypted) to the backup server. It is super efficient and no alternative can boast such a performance!
What are you waiting for time to explore an offsite backup service provider today ...

An often overlooked aspect of any business is the protection of data is based on the business. Information, such as taxes, personal documents, and especially data that is given by your customers. Key facts and figures that protect your customers confidence in you. To ensure that your important data should remain intact and accessible at all times, you need a reliable way to get it again. A solid data backup system is absolutely necessary, everySociety, is never a doubt, dass
Why waste time with the backup data?
So what's the big problem with the backup of data at all? Well, for one thing, if you lose a large amount of important data, it could well leave the industry. No kidding. Only 30% of small businesses, which lost a large amount of data that are still alive after 1 year. Why? Because if you lose someone important data, it is unlikely that they are still your customers afterwards. Not only the word, but it tends toaround and if you have a reputation as unreliable, it is very difficult to change the situation. Soon you have business at all.
It Can not Happen to Me
Maybe it will happen, but you know:
• A quarter of all PC users suffer data loss each year.
• One in ten laptops were stolen in a year after they were purchased. Of these, only 3% are ever again. Then there are the most laptops (96%) are never connected to a central server forBackup for everyone.
• Despite the availability of the latest antivirus software, computers are still affected by the amount of $ 55 billion dollars each year.
• Finally, all hard drives fail. Each one of them.
So, maybe it will not happen, but it's worth the chance?
Backup methods
So, what are the methods of good backup of your data? Consider each of them:
• Tape Drive: This is probably theoldest method of security data that is used other than paper, and there are still some companies today. Not a good option, since the tape is probably the easiest to corrupt, and the tape actually helps physically. It is also very sensitive to heat and moisture and can be easily damaged. Also required to store large amounts of data today would be a ridiculous amount of bands have.
• Zip drive: ZIP drives are a magnetic medium in the style of the old diskDisks. These were partially displaced by the recordable CD, DVD and USB flash drives. ZIP drives seem to top out around 750 megabytes or less, one thing stands as the restrictions, given that most of the hard drive is now much more than that amount of memory.
• CD / DVD: These are both for optical media. The CD has a storage capacity of about 700 MB, but usually it is a version of 870 MB, which is rarely seen. DVDs are about 6 times the capacity and are thereforeare a better fit for today's largest hard disk. How long does a CD or DVD is changed depending on the quality of the disc which is stored and the speed with which it is registered. To get the best results:
- Never buy cheap hard drives. Look for silver or, preferably, Gold Label CD or DVD.
- Save your hard disk in original equipment and not flat, but with more upright on the edge.
- Store in a place where the temperature is maintained in a controlled area.
- Store in adark, because light accelerates the aging and destruction of data.
- Burn For better data integrity, the CD is not faster than 16 times, and your DVD is not faster than 8X. Of course it will take a little 'more, but what you want here, the quality is not the speed.
• Hard Disk Drive: This is basically the same type of drive you have on your computer, but this unit is external and can be transported independently from each other. These units arewith large amounts of memory (more than a terabyte), so that easily store everything on your internal hard drive.
• Flash Drives: The most popular flash drive I see in these days, the small memory sticks "to participate in the USB port of a computer are. I love this and I have a couple of them, because they are so convenient to transport data from one place to another. Unfortunately, the media tend to lead, in time, there is a restrictionnumber of write cycles and erasing.
Moreover, there is usually with a write protection mechanism, with the device. My nightmare is that because these guys are so compact and fits right into the pocket of his shirt that I lost only one. I am lucky that was one of my flash drives from his pocket, but I noticed lost so there was nothing. These devices are great and are very easy to use, but I would not recommend backing up important data for this. TheDevice is too easily misplaced.
What's new?
Meanwhile many of you have heard of Blu-ray Disc. The technology is interesting but a bit 'more than I want to go here. Basically, the Blu-ray is a disc that is read by a blue laser. What is different is that the wavelength of blue light is 405 nanometers, is considerably shorter than the red laser (650 nm) is used to read a DVD. The result is that a Blu-ray to hold moreThe data of a DVD. In fact, a dual-layer Blu-ray discs hold about 50GB of data, which is about 6 times the capacity of a DVD.
I do not know what is the life or integrity of the Blu-ray, so I can not make a recommendation for them at this time. If any of you have more info on this, I would like to hear from you. (see contact page)
And now?
If you do not already have a backup system of data then there is an obvious. WithThe methods mentioned above is a good start, but by itself, all of them are vulnerable to data loss. As noted, finally, all the units are not mentioned. If you use one of these methods you must make sure that it will be the storage site. Why? Because if your office burns to your computer and the backup device in the same place, you lose both.
My personal recommendation is that you do an online backup system, in addition to examining what about the use of localMethod chosen. Of course, if you're a person to think you are likely to face at least some of these questions:
- It 'sure to be personal and sensitive data transmitted over the Internet? "This was my first question and the answer is to use a provider of online backup, either militarily or bank-level encryption. These are the safest and options, if your online bank, like many of us have, you already have experience with thisTechnology.
- And the extra costs? There are many suppliers who have a minimum of $ 10 per month should be calculated depending on the amount of stored data.
- It is difficult to learn the software? "To be competitive today, many vendors offer state of the art software developed easy to learn and use. By acquiring, as with other companies, look for 24 / 7 telephone support, so you know that you are always covered.
- How do I know who to trustwith my data? Check references, names you know. Large companies have generally not well-known trust their data to anyone. Ask for a list of companies with their services and to give some of them. It is not that what you do before hiring employees?
Finally, you can find a backup company that offers a free trial period of at least 30 days. This will be considered a good month for services and to ensure that they are, you want to manage backup --Services.
Do not neglect this important step to protect your company. Protecting critical information is an investment for your company you need to take seriously.

Therefore, the number of data recovery firms has increased over the years, making it a multi-million dollar industry.
So if you're not one of those people that their valuable data is lost, its sad. Is not the end of the world. There is still hope through the help of data recovery service.
In the event of data loss, do not panic and immediately shut down.
YouThink you can ensure your lost files with the purchase of a utility or software to save. If you do not know what they're doing, it can worsen the situation and will not be able to recover your files. DIY recovery means for fixing minor problems of data loss and should be done carefully. If you think your unit has suffered heavy damage, stop retrieving data "do it yourself and contact data recovery services immediately. Tell them the details of how your data and the lossWhat steps should be. The data recovery company will then evaluate your hard drive and possible solutions that can do to recover your data.
Data Recovery Service includes the recovery of lost data from hard drive (and other media such as DVDs, RAID, tape backup, disk arrays, floppies, CD-ROM, iPod and other MP3 players, digital) media and removable media, caused from, is hard disk malfunction / crash, corruption, trafficking in human beingsErrors, viruses, damage from power surges, Blue Screen of Death, deleted partitions, format disks, floods, smoke, fire or other natural disasters.
The process of data recovery engineers experienced in operating systems and storage media have not already done can be assured that your hard drive and data is handled correctly.
Recovery can take from 2 days to more than a week, depending on what has been damaged.
If you, your datarecovered quickly, that some data recovery service companies can do this, but most of the time there is an additional charge, or another package, depending on how quickly you can have your files.
Some data recovery service can be up to your location, travel and performance, but of course this means a higher service fee.

Network Attached Storage is also known as NAS and NAS drives. They are mainly used for the backup files to a central external hard drive so that if you have more PCs, the files can be accessed directly instead of multiple copies of each file stored on each PC. This prevents synchronization document in hell forever. However, NAS is more than an external hard drive, and when you and yourFamily can download files such as pictures, music, documents, stocks, etc.
The flexibility of some of these NAS devices have the ability to increase storage capacity by adding additional drives, and a reduction in the risk of losing all your precious files, if the hard disk to the NAS device fails. These are available on the market today, but at a price though. Personally I use a single solution to drive and use online backup to save my precious photosDocuments, but this does not mean that the option does exist for individuals and businesses pay to have a little 'more, can RAID Network Attached Storage Devices. More and more small and medium enterprises are buying expensive server to configure this place, and with them as a file server. Some NAS devices have as a print server can be good, but most of them must be connected directly to the printer, so be sure to read the technical details firstpurchase.
For those individuals or companies who need a little 'more than a standard NAS drive, there are those that have more features and functionality rich. Some candidates for control of the situation, some streaming video to DLNA-compatible devices, the wireless transfer of your movies on devices like the PS3 and Xbox can be turned on.

During my 20 computer repair, is safe to say that I had to replace 1 hard disk failure during the week. The 52 is one year, so that the 1000-capacity storage devices to take or leave. It is also fair to say that 20% of hard drives crash, even the phase of customers. Perhaps only 60% thought it a nuisance. But that is another 20% who nearly tears because they were full of family photos or documents of work with leaves of every form of dataBackup.
The purpose of this article is to cover a couple of backup options, along with their associated costs. You will be surprised at worst.
I bet that someone smart enough to find this article also has a CD burner on your computer. There you have no excuse to not back up files, but it is a long time. The CD must be organized to some extent, and are subject to scratches, scratches and heat. Although it is therefore a possibility, not toopractical.
Personally, I have to pay about $ 9 a month for web hosting. With this I can easily password protect a folder on the server. Then every few days, I have a connection to him and invite my whole disc, drag and drop. Adopt an FTP program of your choice, and they share only copy newer files, and is so easy. What is it? $ 108 a year? Even then, my hosting company assures me that during my backups on various blogs and websites that tend to maintain.
Quick Search Question ... What is the cost to add a second hard drive in your system? For as little as $ 200 - $ 250 is possible, perhaps an external hard drive in its little case that connects to the USB port. Once again, they put on the new data to be copied.
While there are many more mays to back up your hard disk, here's the part that floors. Many times I have more than one customer tells me they need the data from a dead man had> Drive, no matter what it costs ... Then eat there, words, or change minds after they get the details. I'm going to use Ontrack only as an example, just because there are tens of times and were more about me. (Highly recommended, but not connected), is
They sell data recovery software, as well as several other companies. $ 449 for a program to recover Outlook files. A general program of data recovery for just under $ 200. A commercial and professionalAdvice, manages annual license-$ 1499. All this assumes that the hard drive can really shoot and see the system. But what happens if the incident head and do it full time or the BIOS does not see spin? Then you have to go in a clean room for physical repair and here it starts to add up.
Recently I've seen places advertise that can fix a unit for $ 500 on average a 88% rate of success. What would be the case, but may be the mostI worked hard because they require that a diagnostic fee is not refundable. So expect a $ 1000 to put the data to another hard drive. Even then, usually have to reinstall Windows and all applications. This is only the recovery of data.
So long, I hope you can, as practically the time and money to see their data is backed up. There is no guarantee that when you wake up in the morning wakes up with the hard diskThem. So do yourself a favor and act, rather than later.

In another article, I covered myself why it is essential that
He regularly again. Now we talk about how to secure.
Let us first list some options and explain the advantages and
Disadvantages:
• Floppy Disk - 3.5 "floppy disks are a few 20 years old technology. They are slow, and just keep the 1.4MB file, so that practically useless for modern file (only an image file or song these days is usually too large to be) on a floppy disk. diskettes suitable also very sensitive to the shapethat thrives in humid environments, which means it can spoil quickly, perhaps losing all the files in the backup. Rating: useless
• Backup to tape - it is never a very common choice for home users, although much more common for business users. Tapes do not have the maximum size of a floppy disk - tape is more than enough to back up your entire hard drive. It requires special software, or to take it again, and the only way to "restore" the backup from tape when somethinggoes wrong, it can be installed for the operating system (eg Windows XP), install the backup software, then start restoring files. All this adds time and money to get back up and running. Tapes are made of similar materials on floppy disk, to form the same potential problems that have to do the floppy drive. Rating: Fair
• Zip disks - to store up to 750 MB (about the same as a CD-ROM, or over 500 floppy disks), which may not be sufficient to store all the documents, butIf you have a lot of music, photos or video, you need a lot of dishes. With them is safe, simple drag and drop files you want. But the Zip disks are made from the material itself, such as floppy disks, and tape, so if you live in a place with plenty of moisture, but they are also very likely to go wrong, which means lost again lost files. Rating: Fair
• USB "flash drives - USB drives are common in these days, are available in sizes up to 2 GB or more, and many costs under $ 100. Get a greatsufficient to keep all your documents and you can safely close, just drag your files into the drive, pull and you're done. You can also use these units simple file from one computer to another. Their small physical size is convenient for transportation and storage, but it is not hard to miss, either. Modern PC and Mac, you can connect and work normally only, without installing special software. Old computer is usually necessary to install the softwareto manage them. Rating: excellent
• CD and DVD (optical disk) - Blank CDs hold 650-700 MB, while most recordable DVD 4700 MB (or even more grip when one of the newer "dual layer DVD burner). Many people can fit all important documents on a single CD-R, and the disks cost a few cents per item, purchased in bulk.
Blank DVD, the cost is usually less than a dollar to store large photos or music collection (l 'much more space than, say, a Word document or Excel) in one or more disks. If it has to be handled with care, optical media such as CDs and DVDs to keep their files for years without problems, however, it is a safe operation, with a high quality hard drive, instead of an off-brand cheapo. Optical media, but is not immune to mold, more reliable than floppies or Zip disks.
Windows and Mac OS X have built the capacity of the hard disk to burn with the drive on the right (most newer computers for at least CDBrenner, Brenner and sell separately price under $ 100). If you have a burner on an older machine, it is with the burning software, or you can get a program like Nero or EZ CD Creator for the PC, or buy Toast Titanium for Mac Rating: excellent
• external USB or FireWire port - that is one of my favorite options, for some reasons. As I said earlier, hard drives are very vulnerable to interference with the need to return to Casesthe first place. But if you get an external drive to connect your computer with USB 2 or FireWire, you can keep them off unless you back up, and that the probability of failure is very low.
None of the other options that I mentioned you can make a complete bootable backup of your hard disk if you do not have a complete backup of your hard disk, you add hours of your time (or pay a computer technician hundreds too) Spent about re-installingOperating system (Windows or Mac), reinstall all programs, set up your Internet access and e-mail, download security updates that are not installed, etc. etc.
And, most important files, like your address and your e-mail that hides on your computer, where people can not find most of them. If you do not know where a file is how you want it back? And 'only happen if you back up your entire hard drive. Rating:Excellent
This list includes the following options for backing up files. No backup method is perfect, and sometimes even the best can not help to have extra fuses, and really safe, at least to keep a copy in a completely different position in the event of fire or other disasters.
So what's the best way?
My personal recommendation for the best backup method that are protected, which is a combination of both types. First, optical disc (CD or DVD) for yourDocuments and other smaller files that have changed or are often included. This should be done on a frequent basis, once a week for the average user of computers, once a day in an office environment, if you are running business critical files. This can be done only five minutes. It's worth it!
Secondly, an external hard drive that goes out only for the time needed to return. Ensure not only drag files and folders on your hard drivebut is completely inaccessible by duplicating the hard disk. To save time and money if something goes wrong with the main unit on you and running in minutes instead of hours or days.
You can do this using a program such as MaxBlast from Maxtor for Windows machines, or Carbon Copy Cloner for Mac Both programs are free (even if MaxBlast requires at least one hard disk to the production byMaxtor).
How long does it take to complete the backup varies, depending on how much you have on your hard drive and the connection type (USB, Firewire), you can use for your external drive - probably anywhere from a half hour to an hour in extreme cases. But you can open the way, so it's not as bad as it seems. This should at least once a month, maybe more often if you plan to do a lot of changes to the computer asThe installation of new software or upgrade your system with a major update for Windows or Mac OS.
Bottom line, how often you should back up: ask how important the files for you or your company, and what is the greatest amount of time, effort and money spent unable or just want to get back running again? If you entered manually (e-mail, customer databases, etc.), it could take hours, days or even months to get back there, where you getwhen they had lost the files if you have backup copies.
So do not make the mistake of not too sure. If you have not lost the file, it is considered lucky. Be sure to take the measures necessary to maintain not happen, and not regret it.

You wonder how to retrieve deleted files? A recovery in demand for software could be the right way to do it. Makes the process of restoration of lost files is not only easy, but getting much faster.
There are dozens of reasons why a file could be deleted accidentally. Some of them are negligent deletion, system crash, software failure, unexpected system shutdown, virus attacks, corruption of the disks and so on and so forth.
But with a software download functionApplication at hand you can not worry about how to recover deleted files. You will be with the power to restore files that were deleted from the Recycle Bin. Not only that, you can restore files as images, audio files, video files, zip files, email and much more.
In an application that uses the algorithm tend to have original content file search) is still intact on the units designated overwritten (without any other content, and therefore the reconstruction wouldthe same for the file in the file restored.
